Nintendo's "Silence" Coming To An End In 2 Weeks?:
After disappointing many with their lack of new info given at the Game Developers Conference, it seems as though Nintendo won't be tight lipped about their future plans for much longer:
This may have been disappointing for Nintendo fans who were expecting big announcements to come out of GDC last week, but the good news is that this quiet period, from what we’ve heard, is expected to come to an end in less than two weeks.
Hopefully the big movement of Nintendo stock will be coming to an end, allowing Nintendo to show off their future, unreleased games, announce a major release date, or even show off some entirely new projects. Wishful thinking? Possibly, but we'll just have to wait a week or two to see if Nintendo does break their silence.
Aussie-Nintendo has reported on a GameSpot interview with Palmer, executive producer for the Australian studio which developed the Wii, PS2 and PSP game: Heatseeker. Here's what they had to say:
We're pleased to be getting something out of the Wii because there doesn't seem to be a huge amount of games out there, so hopefully that will do quite well - it's getting very good reviews, which we're very pleased with.
They have also claimed that the fact that the Wii is single-core means that it's a big advantage for developers, and also that it's very easy to make games for in comparison to other consoles of the same generation:
The Wii is quite an easy platform to work on because of its single core nature. It means that if you're used to other single core systems - like the PS2 - you'll be up and running on the Wii quite quickly. The controller is obviously quite interesting, as you have to get quite creative with that to get anything out of it. But generally the platform is quite rapid to develop on - we like it.
IGN has recently interviewed Christopher Olson, producer of Spider-Man 3 for the Nintendo DS, which is expected to launch May.
March 9, 2007 - For the past few years console owners have enjoyed exploring a wide-open Manhattan in several different Spider-Man games. DS owners haven't had such fortune. That changes this May with Spider-Man 3 from Vicarious Visions. Promising a massive streaming world that few could have imagined possible on DS, Spider-Man 3 could prove most exciting on Nintendo's handheld.
We spoke with Christopher Olson, producer on Spider-Man 3 DS to get the lowdown. Olson touches on everything from the size of Manhattan to touch screen controls to mission structure. It all sounds too go to be true, and yet is it true. Enjoy.
